YEREVAN. – Unequal development of the provinces is a key problem in Armenia, acting Deputy PM Tigran Avinyan said during “Empowering Regions through High Tech-Forum 2018” conference at the Gyumri Technology Center.

Deputy PM pointed to the need to develop IT, high technologies and education to combat disproportionality and raise competitiveness in the regions.

“Young people in the regions should have an opportunity to get quality high-tech education not to seek high salaries in Yerevan. The government plans to provide maximum support to the regional technology centers,” Avinyan assured.

New techno parks have to be opened, and some projects will be launched next year. Avinyan added that tax reform and other government tools are targeted at creating favorable conditions for new startups in the provinces and attracting foreign investment.
