YEREVAN. – Negotiations on the Russian natural gas tariffs have started as of Tuesday, between Gazprom Armenia company and the Government of Armenia, and they will conclude when an option will be found to effectively resolve the matter, Acting Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, according to the arrangement, Gazprom Armenia will not submit a bid for gas tariff revision before the end of the negotiations.

As of the New Year, the Russian natural gas price has increased on Armenia’s border—rising from $150 to $165 per 1,000 cubic meters. But Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated that the gas prices will not go up for Armenia’s consumers.

When asked what these negotiations are about, Grigoryan responded: “The negotiations are in progress on increasing the efficiency of the activities of Gazprom Armenia company, cost optimization, and development of the financial-economic model of company activity in the years to come.”

As per Mher Grigoryan, their objective is to see to it that the natural gas tariff will not rise in Armenia.
