YEREVAN. – The matter on an alternative to the Upper Lars highway between Georgia and Russia—and which leads to Armenia—continues to be discussed.

The Acting Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Hakob Arshakyan, on Thursday told about the above-said to reporters, at the Government of Armenia.

“But taking into account those restrictions that we have and the weather restrictions, I don’t want to make a comment at this moment, so that I don’t harm the negotiation process, since they are trilateral talks,” Arshakyan added.

The Armenian official noted, however, that during the meeting with his Russian counterpart, it was noted that Russia has a modernization program for its border checkpoints, and that the Upper Lars—as a key checkpoint for Armenia—will be included in this program.
