Daniel Balson, Europe and Central Asia Advocacy Director for Amnesty International USA, reflected on the human rights situation in Armenia, the Voice of America Armenian Service.

He stressed that the peaceful transfer of power as a result of the “Velvet Revolution” in the country was impressive. Balson noted that they view this as major progress in civil society.

But the same time, in his words, there are still several problems which cause concern for human rights defenders.

Daniel Balson added, however, that there is no doubt that the human rights situation in Azerbaijan is terrible.
