Democrat Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard who visited Armenia and Artsakh said she will run for the president in 2020, CNN reported.

The formal announcement will be made next week, she told CNN's Van Jones.

“There are a lot of reasons for me to make this decision. There are a lot of challenges that are facing the American people that I'm concerned about and that I want to help solve,” she said.

The 37-year-old congresswoman is known for her criticism of US policy in the Middle East.

Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) supports U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide and was a member of the congressional delegation that visited Armenia and Artsakh in 2017.

She is one of the first two female combat veterans to ever serve in the U.S. Congress, and its first Hindu member.
