Turkey fights against terrorists, not Kurds, said the spokesperson for Turkish President Ibrahim Kalin following the US threats.

According to him, it is a "fatal mistake" to equate Syrian Kurds with PKK terrorists, Daily Sabah reported.

"Mr @realDonaldTrump Terrorists can't be your partners & allies. Turkey expects the US to honor our strategic partnership and doesn't want it to be shadowed by terrorist propaganda," Kalin said in a tweet on Monday. "Turkey fights against terrorists, not Kurds. We will protect Kurds and other Syrians against all terrorist threats," Kalin added.

The US President Donald Trump earlier threatened Turkey with economic measures if Ankara decides to attack the Syrian Kurds.
