YEREVAN. – The MPs are not my employees; this is a totally different institution, and people have sent people here with their vote.

Ararat Mirzoyan, the newly elected speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Monday told the abovementioned to reporters in parliament.

When asked what he will do if Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman—and tycoon MP—Gagik Tsarukyan were to continue not attending the NA sessions, Mirzoyan said he did not wish to individualize the matter.

“The MPs themselves must show respect for the vote received and the voters,” he added. “And all the deputies must have, without exception, the attendance which is prescribed by law.

“If he [an MP] doesn’t come [to the parliament], he shall have an honorable absence.”
