YEREVAN. – It is possible that not all European Union (EU) member countries will ratify the Armenia-EU agreement this year.

Ararat Mirzoyan, the newly elected speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, on Monday told the aforesaid to reporters in parliament.

“The ratification this year by all the EU member countries perhaps is not very realistic,” he said. “But in case of working very well and making efforts, there is a window that it will be this year.”

In Mirzoyan’s words, the reason why all the EU member countries might not ratify this agreement by this year may be linked also to the recent events in Armenia and to objective realities.

“The [new] parliament is just entering into [its] powers; the people are new,” Ararat Mirzoyan added. “Had the [preceding] National Assembly of the 6th convocation continued its work, those works would have gone more smoothly.”
