A 28-year-old Grigor Sargsyan, known as “Maestro”, is suspected of being the leader of a syndicate organizing fixing tennis matches with more than 100 players across Europe, AP reported.

Stars at the top of tennis, players far lower down the sport’s food chain are being questioned this week by police in France on suspicion of fixing matches. The tennis player is being held in a Belgian jail.

Investigators have also questioned players in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, and Bulgaria and are going to question players in the United States, Chile and Egypt.

Sargsyan was arrested in Belgium last June, charged with organizing fixing matches and tampering with the results.

According to the AP, it is not yet clear whether the Belgian syndicate is linked to the criminal group, partially composed of Armenians, arrested last week in Spain.
