We’ll set up a task force devoted to the Armenification of YouTube next week and start making the state mechanisms work in such a way that we can create opportunities for bloggers and economic operators to take advantage of the opportunities that YouTube has to offer. This is what Armenia’s Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan told journalists at the National Assembly.

When asked if this may imply levying taxes from people posting videos on YouTube and earning profits from that, the minister said it may. “I think it may. This concerns any economic operator. As you know, the Tax Code is undergoing changes and microbusinesses won’t be taxed, but people who have higher incomes may be taxed.”

The minister emphasized the fact that this is due to the development of the technology sector, the efforts to put Armenia on the map, create new jobs and new business models and ideas and will have a positive impact.
