On 14 March, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Co-Rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Armenia Yuliia Lyovochkina and Andrej Šircelj.

Greeting the guests, Minister Mnatsakanyan stated that Armenia highly appreciates the effective cooperation established between Armenia and the Council of Europe as an additional platform for promoting Armenia’s development agenda through combined efforts and the exchange of knowledge and experience.

In regard to the challenges facing the PACE, Minister Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed Armenia’s full support to the efforts being made to resist those challenges.

At the request of the co-rapporteurs, touching upon the latest interior political developments in Armenia, Armenia’s foreign minister emphasized that the Armenian government has proved, through specific actions, its political will to implement the reforms undertaken on the basis of the broad mandate that was given by the people in April-May 2018 and reaffirmed as a result of the snap parliamentary elections held in December 2018.

Minister Mnatsakanyan presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, as well as Armenia’s approaches to and fundamental position on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, the parties underlined the importance of introducing mechanisms for creating an environment that will promote peace and risks reduction mechanisms.
