Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands urge Russia not to abandon the INF Treaty, AP reported.

European members also urge for new arms control deals to take into account the growing power of China and other countries.

European states opened an arms control conference in Berlin, calling on Moscow to return to full and verifiable compliance with the INF to save the treaty.

But German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas says it's also time for broader treaties, as nuclear weapons proliferate to countries such as China, North Korea, India and Pakistan. According to him, the contracts should also relate to new technologies, such as drones and cyber-attacks.
