The White House has rejected a request by Democratic lawmakers to provide information on Donald Trump’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to media reports on Thursday.

The White House sent its denial in a letter to Congress. The chairmen of the House of Representatives Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees, respectively, had asked the White House and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in early March for documents and interviews about Trump’s conversations with Putin, Reuters reported.

The matter concerns the meeting of Putin and Trump on July 16, 2018. Trump’s opponent expressed discontent at the wordings made during a press conference with Putin. In addition, the leaders held a short meeting on the margins of G20 summit in Buenos Aires in December. American media said the meeting lasted around 15 minutes  and no translator on behalf of the American side was present.

The lawmakers wanted to question the translators from both sides.
