International competition protection authorities have wide powers and opportunities. This is what Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia Artak Shaboyan said during the session of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly on 22 March.

However, as Shaboyan stated, for inspections, the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia is compelled to submit a written statement to businessmen, after which it can request relevant documents. “Well, it is already clear that businessmen are not interested in submitting documents and information,” Shaboyan said. Artak Shaboyan believes there is a need for legislative amendments that will allow the Commission to expand its powers.
