Turkish fighter jets harassed the helicopter of Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras during his flight to Agathonissi, AP reported.

According to Tsapras, he was "welcomed" by Turkish fighter jets which violated the Greek airspace during his flight to Agathonissi. He noted that these actions forced the helicopter pilot to to carry out low maneuvers before the arrival of Greek fighter jets.

Tsapras stressed that Greece is committed to dialogue and cooperation with Turkey, but if necessary, "we will do what our ancestors taught us, to defend our rights and our sovereignty.”

There are disagreements between Greece and Turkey on a number of issues, including territorial disputes in the Aegean Sea. Athens often complains that Turkish fighter jets violate the airspace of the country.
