On 25 March, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received Human Rights Director of the Directorate-General of the Council of Europe for Human Rights and Rule of Law Christophe Poirel, reports the news service of the Office of the Human Rights Defender, according to NEWS.am.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the programs that the Directorate-General of the Council of Europe for Human Rights and Rule of Law and the Staff of the Office of the Human Rights Defender are carrying out to protection of the rights of women, persons deprived of liberty and for human rights protection in the armed forces.

The parties also touched upon the special positions that the Human Rights Defender expresses to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe that are targeted at the independent evaluations on execution by Armenia of the verdicts of the European Court of Human Rights.

Christophe Poirel valued the experience of the Human Rights Defender and expressed willingness to expand the scope of cooperation.

In his turn, Arman Tatoyan expressed gratitude to the Human Rights Director of the Council of Europe for the effective cooperation and highly appreciated the cooperation between the Directorate-General of the Council of Europe for Human Rights and Rule of Law and the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan.
