An arrangement has been made that the National Assembly, and not the government, will deal with the matter of transitional justice in Armenia.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Friday noted about the aforesaid at the Embassy of Armenia in Vienna, during his meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in Austria.

“I hope that the National Assembly factions will work jointly so that an acceptable mechanism for transitional justice is found,” he said.

Pashinyan noted that work was underway toward introducing a mechanism for confiscation of property without a guilty verdict, which, he said, “is recognized by the European Convention on Human Rights as a mechanism conforming to the European Convention on Human Rights, and is Armenia’s obligation before the Manival international organization, since 2015.”

“I myself would like to give very fast solutions,” the Armenian PM added. “But they are very major and substantive matters that we need to discuss carefully and in full so that, suddenly, it doesn’t turn out that we make things worse.”

Nikol Pashinyan assured that they will consistently go forward in that direction so that justice is restored in Armenia completely and in full.
