President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili visited Armenian Surb Khach church during her visit to Armenian-populated Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia.

The visit was not planned, and Zourabichvili decided to visit the church when she learned that the Armenian Apostolic Church was celebrating Palm Sunday, Jnews.ge.

The newly appointed head of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka Vicariate Vardapet (Archimandrite) Ter Maghakiya Amiryan highly appreciated this unexpected visit of the president.

“This is a very important step on the part of the president, she honored us with her visit, it means a lot to Armenian-Georgian fraternal relations,” he said.
