Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan doesn’t see himself as the leader of the Civil Contract Party.

“They usually say never say never, but if you have noticed, I have never been a candidate for leader of the political party since the establishment of the political party and I hope I won’t be,” Nikol Pashinyan told journalists on 15 April, touching upon the question on whether he will replace Sasun Mikayelyan in the position of chairman of the board of the Civil Contract Party since Mikayelyan has declared that he will no longer be chairman of the board after becoming president of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders.

“This is my goal and intention because I believe this is the right mechanism in terms of checks-and-balances. Our political party has dozens of members who deserve to be the leader of the political party,” Pashinyan said.
