The Council of Europe has a rather coarse position on the issue of political prisoners in Azerbaijan. This is what member of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Vladimir Vardanyan declared during an April 16 briefing.

According to him, the hearings with Azerbaijani human rights activists were also devoted to this issue, and the Council of Europe will soon adopt a resolution condemning the presence of political prisoners in the country.

According to Vladimir Vardanyan, besides this, there is also a lot of criticism in the latest resolution on money-laundering, and this sparked Azerbaijan’s discontent.
