Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reflected on the fire that has engulfed the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

“An immense sadness before these shocking images of Notre Dame of Paris,” Pashinyan wrote, in French, in his Twitter account. “Armenia shares the emotion of France.”

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II in his turn expressed support to the French people in connection with this fire, and stated that he has followed this tragedy in Paris with heartache.

The defendant Argam Hovikyan was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the criminal case into taking a child   hostage and attempted murder of the grandmother of his ex-wife, at a kindergarten in Armavir, Armenia.

Hovikyan was found guilty of attempted murder, deliberately causing health damage to someone, taking a minor hostage by using a weapon, and illegally carrying a weapon.

The incident had occurred on October 30, 2017.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the Resolution on cooperation between the United Nations and the International Organization of La Francophonie, the talks on which at the UN were facilitated by Armenia, the chairing country of the Francophonie Summit.

Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations Sophia Simonyan submitted the Resolution for approval during the plenary session of the General Assembly.

In their speeches, the representatives of several delegations expressed gratitude to Armenia for chairing the Francophonie Summit.

Armenia's National Security Service is aware of whereabouts of former MP Mihran Poghosyan who is accused of involvement in an offshore scandal.

“Search has been declared. The work is underway, you will be informed later,” head of NSS Artur Vanetsyan told reporters.

Poghosyan, who is also former Chief Compulsory Enforcement Officer of Judicial Acts, has been included as an accused-on-trial for confiscating property in particularly large amounts.

Poghosyan's office in turn published a statement revealing his address and saying the authorities are staging “a performance” when saying they have declared a search for him.
