Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on April 26, ahead of Trump’s planned visit to Tokyo in late May, Reuters reported quoting a US official.

As it was noted, they planned to discuss trade and efforts to contain North Korea’s nuclear program.

Abe is one of Trump's closest allies on the world stage. Japan was his first stop on a presidential tour in November 2017.

Trump plans to visit Tokyo at the end of May in order to greet Crown Prince Naruhito, who will become emperor on May 1, a day after the abdication of his father, Emperor Akihito.
