YEREVAN. – Back in January, when responding to the question—at the presentation of the government program—why airline tickets are more expensive in Armenia than in neighboring Georgia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated that there was a problem with the supply of aviation fuel, and that there may be a monopoly in this domain, and which they need to find out, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“Three months have passed and, according to industry experts, nothing has changed during this time; the [airline ticket] prices continue to remain steadily high [in Armenia].

“It is possible that the [Armenian] authorities cannot find who the owner of the [respective] monopoly is [in the country] in order to liberalize the market,” Zhamanak wrote.
