We are waiting for some clarifications for the next phase. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Tuesday told this to reporters in Brussels, after the high-level conference on the 10th anniversary of the EU Eastern Partnership program, and touching upon the possibility of the next meeting between the prime minister of Armenia and the president of Azerbaijan.

Asked whether or not such a meeting is planned for the near future, Mnatsakanyan replied as follows: “Let’s be patient a bit more. You know that we are waiting for some clarifications for the next phase, for the meeting; and the hosting side shall say how it’s possible, when it’s convenient, so that we can also assess those periods; that is, to agree. In principle, we have no problem.”

He noted that the next meeting between Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev is expected to be held in Washington.

“But it would be wrong to say anything [now],” the Armenian FM added. ‘“Going ahead’ of the hosting side, I believe, is not a nice thing [to do].”

Also, Mnatsakanyan informed that he had interacted and conversed with Azerbaijan FM Elmar Mammadyarov in Brussels.

“That’s a normal phenomenon within such frames, during such formats,” he said. “You know, we are human beings, too, and we can interact with each other, and at every interaction it’s not necessary for us to address some matters for which we have no shortage of occasions.”
