The issue of the distribution of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) import customs tariffs was discussed at a meeting of the intergovernmental council in Kyrgyzstan, the parties brought their positions together, the proposals will be discussed at the national level within 10 days, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters.

Belarus previously expressed dissatisfaction with the current methodology for the distribution of import customs tariffs in the union.

“We once again discussed this topic and we believe that we have brought the positions closer,” RIA Novosti reported referring to Siluanov.

Earlier, Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus would no longer support the extension of the current methodology for the distribution of import customs duties in the union since it is disadvantageous for the Belarusian side. As Yury Seliverstov, the first deputy head of the republic’s Ministry of Finance, later clarified, Minsk proposes to revise the distribution of import customs tariffs between the budgets of the Union member states every three years, taking into account various factors, including the volume of imports.

And the Deputy PM of the Republic Igor Petrishenko noted that the experts of the EAEU member states have prepared five different methods, and for all of them the Belarusian side should receive an additional 1 percentage point from the distribution of fees.

The current standards for the distribution of import customs tariffs are valid until December 31, 2019, and establish the following proportions: Armenia - 1.22%, Belarus - 4.56%, Kazakhstan - 7.055%, Kyrgyzstan - 1.9%, Russia - 85.265%.
