The relations between Armenia and Russia are growing dynamically, and there is a constructive atmosphere for work, evidence of which are the frequent meetings and other high-level interactions with the President and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

The news service of the Government of Armenia reports that the Prime Minister mentioned that this is the first visit of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation to Armenia following the political changes that took place in Armenia and that the visit serves as a good opportunity to touch upon the items on the agenda of Armenian-Russian federal ties in this format as well. The Prime Minister of Armenia attached importance to the cooperation between the Security Councils of Russia and Armenia in the context of the joint efforts to continue enhancing Armenian-Russian strategic ties and ensuring regional and international security and stability.

The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation considered his consultations with the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia effective and informed that the meeting of the Secretaries of Security Councils of CIS countries is scheduled to take place in November of this year and that, as always, Armenia has confirmed its participation in the meeting.

Pashinyan and Patrushev exchanged views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the maintenance of military balance and ensuring of stability in the region, as well as the developments of and challenges for regional and international security.

Earlier, the press service of the Staff of the Security Council of the Russian Federation had issued a press release stating that Nikolai Patrushev and Nikol Pashinyan had discussed the strengthening of the Russian-Armenian cooperation in security, economy and investments, the partnership between Russia and Armenia within international organizations, as well as several current issues on the global agenda, particularly the provision of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and the restoration of peace in Syria.
