Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Ashot Ghulyan received today President of the American University of Armenia (AUA) Karin Markides, AUA Vice-President Ashot Ghazaryan and Artsakh Programs Director Nona Poghosyan, as reported the Department of Media and Public Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh.

The parliamentary speaker congratulated the newly appointed President of the American University of Armenia on assuming office and expressed confidence that the cooperation established between the University and the government of Artsakh will continue to grow.

Ghulyan underscored the importance of the activities that the American University of Armenia is carrying out to train and build the capacities of specialists in Artsakh.

Karin Markides stated that she has a clear picture of the role that universities of the 21st century must play in the development of society and will put in her efforts to further emphasize the role of the American University of Armenia in improving the education sector in Armenia. She also expressed willingness to expand the partnership between the University and Artsakh.
