Through an analysis on the conclusion of the expert examination designated for exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine, the body conducting proceedings found that there are no grounds for criminal prosecution to continue the proceedings. This is what head of the investigative group for intentional concealment by officials for exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine Yura Ivanyan said during a press conference hosted by the Investigative Committee of Armenia today.

According to him, no data regarding intentional concealment of information about environmental pollution were obtained during the preliminary investigation. He stated that several people have been interviewed within the framework of the case of intentional concealment by officials in regard to exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine.

On July 20, 2018, the General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia instituted a criminal case under part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Armenia in relation to the prima facie case of intentional concealment of information about environmental pollution by officials of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia.

Last year, a complex ecological, geological, hydrological, geophysical, chemical, construction-technical expert examination had been designated for exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine and was assigned to the group of experts of Advanced Resources Development (ELARD).
