The clashes occurred Monday between the protesters against Amuslar gold mine project and police.

After the meeting of environmental activists with the Prime Minister and the picket against the residence on Baghramyan 26, the protesters moved towards the parliament’s building. The action participants intended to organize public hearings on the Amulsar issue in the park at the National Assembly. Police cordon does not allow protesters to go to the park.

“The cycle of repressions has begun. People want to go to the park, and expel them by force,” environmental activist Anna Shahnazaryan said.

Edgar Petrosyan, deputy head of the Yerevan Police Department, assured that the decision to prevent people from entering the park was made by the park’s security service.

The tension grew, some demonstrators tried to block Baghramyan Avenue. As a result, the street is half blocked. Between the police and the participants in the environmental protest, a brawl began. Police force expelled the protesters from the roadway.

The results of the examination on Amulsar were presented. This caused the indignation of environmentalists. Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with activists against the development of Amulsar. Following the meeting, activists said that Pashinyan was of the opinion that there should be an Amulsar development.
