The Armenians of Vakıflı, the only Armenian village in Turkey, celebrated the Assumption of Mary and Grape Blessing Day.

As reported Akunq.net, this year’s holy mass gathered not only Armenians, but also the Alevi residents of Vakıflı who helped the Armenians make the Armenian harissa in large boilers and said a prayer with them.

According to head of the Armenian community of Vakıflı Jem Chapar, this year, the Assumption of Mary, which is one of the five calendar holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church, coincided with the holiday of the Alevis, and this served as an occasion for the Alevis and Armenians to celebrate together.

Armenian clergyman Avedis Tabashian informed that their prayers were for maintenance of “fraternal love” in Turkey. Vicar of the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, Bishop Sahag Mashalian also participated in the holy mass.
