It is hard for me to believe that I read the same report that the Investigative Committee read and unequivocally came to the conclusion that the risks will be manageable. This is what Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Lena Nazaryan wrote on her Facebook page as she touched upon the results of the expert examination of the Amulsar gold mine.

“The meeting of the My Step parliamentary faction and the Prime Minister in regard to the Amulsar gold mine issue is over, and I expressed my stance on and concerns about the “Summary, Conclusions and Gaps in Data” section of the expert examination conducted by Advances Resources Development (ELARD). It is hard for me to believe that I read the same report that the Investigative Committee read and unequivocally came to the conclusion that the risks will be manageable. As I was reading the report, I had the feeling that I always have when I examine international reports on the post-electoral period (I first read the facts about all the electoral violations, and in the end, I read a summary in which the conclusion is that even though there have been certain violations, overall, the elections were one step forward). This is the same way the experts of ELARD give evaluations and conclusions questioning the reliability of the Environmental Impact Assessment underlying the authorization for operation of the mine, but in the final summary, they come to another conclusion. My concerns about the report were not dispelled, and I still have the same position, that is, the report is maximally contradictory in order to make a specific decision,” she wrote.
