Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday received Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Jihad Azour. The meeting was also attended by IMF Resident Representative in Armenia Yulia Ustyugova

The Prime Minister stated that Armenia has a pretentious agenda for reforms in various sectors and that the assistance of international partners, including the IMF is important in this process.

The Director of the IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department highly appreciated the cooperation with Armenia’s government, emphasized that Armenia is a reliable partner for the IMF and stated that the IMF is ready to support the government within the scope of mutually beneficial partnership.

Talking about Armenia’s economic priorities, the Prime Minister stated that the goal of the government is to shape an export-oriented economy based on technologies. At the guest’s request, Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the steps and actions that are being taken to change the economic structure, fight against corruption, implement judicial and legal reforms and reforms in the public administration system, improve the investment climate, enhance infrastructures and more.
