US President Donald Trump suddenly canceled a planned visit with Danish PM Mette Frederiksen on Tuesday, saying there was no point in traveling after Frederiksen called the idea of buying US Greenland “absurd”, BBC reported

Trump's visit to Denmark was expected to take place on September 2-3 as part of his trips to Europe, but the US president’s statement on Twitter on Tuesday confirmed that the purpose of his visit to Denmark was to discuss the purchase of Greenland.

“Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time….” Trump tweeted.

Tater the White House confirmed that Trump canceled the entire trip to Denmark, including the planned meeting with the queen of the country.
