UN Secretary General Anthony Guterres has urged Israel and Lebanon to restrain amid reports of recent shelling in the border areas of the two states.

His was voiced Sunday by the official representative Stéphane Dujarric, TASS reported

"The Secretary-General is seriously concerned about the incidents across the Blue Line," Dujarric said in a statement. "He calls for maximum restraint and urges all concerned to cease all activities that violate resolution 1701 and endanger the cessation of hostilities."

Shiite Hezbollah fighters hit Sunday an Israeli armored personnel carrier with an anti-tank missile near the army barracks near the settlement of Afifim. Jewish personnel reportedly suffered losses.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the troops fired over 100 shells. None of the Israeli military suffered as a result of the armed sorties.
