YEREVAN. – At Thursday’s Cabinet session, the government of Armenia decided to approve the proposal to sign an agreement on a free-trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Serbia.

As per the reasoning behind this decision, the main objective for the signing of this agreement is to create new trade opportunities for Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, which until now were primarily importers of Serbian goods, whereas their export opportunities were substantially limited.

As a result of the signing of this agreement, privileged access to the markets of the countries that are party to the agreements will be expanded.

The EAEU comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
