Yerevan hopes for a speedy solution to the problem of Armenian driver’s licenses in Russia, Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan said at a meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia on Tuesday.

According to the deputy minister, yesterday in Moscow there was a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Council where this issue was discussed.

“This issue is being discussed in two directions - multilateral and bilateral. Multilateral - because the Treaty on the EAEU does not imply such a restriction,” he noted.

According to him, at the bilateral level, this issue is being discussed due to the fact that the restriction was introduced under Russian law. At the same time, work in this direction, according to Kocharyan, continues. “And we hope that we can achieve a result,” he said.

According to Russian law, the driver’s license of Armenia is not recognized in Russia if the car is used for paid work. At the same time, driver licenses of all EAEU member states, except Armenia, are recognized in Russia, which caused Yerevan's indignation.
