Head of the State Supervision Service (powers are temporarily suspended) Davit Sanasaryan’s attorneys on Tuesday will petition the body conducting proceedings to terminate criminal prosecution instituted against Sanasaryan, as reported Sanasaryan’s attorney Inessa Petrosyan.

Today marks the end of the 20-day period for becoming familiar with the case materials, and the investigator has to make a decision on forwarding the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office after examining the motion filed by the attorneys.

The end of the preliminary investigation into the case of Davit Sanasaryan was declared on August 21, and the attorneys had requested 20 days to become familiar with the 29-volume case.

On April 18, Davit Sanasaryan was charged under part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (abuse of official powers). According to the National Security Service, Sanasaryan, serving as head of the State Supervision Service of Armenia, due to group interests, prima facie used his official position contrary to the interests of the Service to contribute to the entrepreneurial activities of the company managed de facto by his employees and failed to fulfill his obligations as an official. A signature to not leave was applied as a preventive measure. The investigator also decided to temporarily terminate the service of Head of the State Supervision Service of Armenia Davit Sanasaryan. However, Sanasaryan claims that the case is made up.
