YEREVAN. – Discussions will start soon at the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport (SECDYS) on whether or not chess should be a mandatory subject at the schools of Armenia.

“Taking into account the fact that we have received several concerns lately by chess players as well as the parents of schoolchildren in connection with the Chess subject [being taught at schools], we plan to hold comprehensive discussions in the near future on this matter, at the NA SECDYS Standing Committee,” the latter’s chairman, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, wrote this, in particular, on his Facebook page.
