Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on Thursday participated in the 17th session of the Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as reported the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Greeting the participants of the session, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed certainty that the agreements reached during the session will serve as a good foundation for the expansion and deepening of military-economic cooperation between the CSTO Member States.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed the opinion that, in the context of expansion of military-economic cooperation of the Member States, one of the fundamental topics is cooperation in the field of high technology. It is clear that the level of cooperation of the high technological enterprises of the Member States is insufficient, but intensification of work in the high technology field may become an additional and important tool for deepening of mutual cooperation.

To fill the gap, Armenia suggested intensifying cooperation in sectors such as automobile construction, networks of the next generation, artificial intelligence, etc. Tigran Avinyan noted that the Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation is the platform on which these opportunities can be considered.

During the session, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan also had a meeting with his Russian counterpart Yuri Borisov and discussed issues on military-economic cooperation and cooperation in the field of high technology between Russia and Armenia.
