YEREVAN. – A draft decision to bring about the long-awaited change in the lives of the most needy families and individuals in Armenia will be put on the agenda of next week’s Cabinet meeting of the government. Zaruhi Batoyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, noted about this in a Facebook post.

As per the minister, this draft decision proposes to enable families that have no particular place of residence and are not registered in the national population register to benefit from national social assistance programs, and to simplify the procedures for exercising social rights in connection with changes in the place of residence of families that are registered in the System.

As per Batoyan, in this way, especially the matter of providing assistance to Armenia’s extremely poor families will be resolved because many of them are not registered, they even live in non-residential buildings, and they feel the need for assistance the most, but they are left out of state care.

“From now on, they will also be included in the [state] benefit system,” she also wrote. “And our assistance will become more targeted.”
