Azerbaijan isn’t considering its membership to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) as an observer. This is what Head of the Foreign Policy Division of the Staff of the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev said in an interview with Real TV.

“Currently, Azerbaijan isn’t considering the issue of membership to the CSTO in any format, including as an observer,” he said, stating that Azerbaijan has close, friendly and partnering ties in the military and military-technical sectors with all CSTO member states, except Armenia.

Hajiyev stated that, in spite of this, Baku isn’t considering its membership to the CSTO. “Azerbaijan is closely following the activities of the CSTO and the issues being considered by the CSTO,” he added.
