YEREVAN. – MPs from the majority My Step faction at the National Assembly do not know why Artur Vanetsyan has stepped down as Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, and what the substance is of his respective statement. Suren Grigoryan, a member of the My Step faction, on Tuesday noted about this during the traditional briefings at the parliament, and with respect to Vanetsyan’s unexpected resignation.

In Grigoryan’s words, however, lawmakers are not obligated to know about state figures’ resignation that is on the horizon.

“The text of that statement may be due to hundreds of reasons,” the MP noted, in particular.

Grigoryan added that they do not want to guess why the NSS chief had resigned, but at the same time, he expressed bewilderment in connection with Vanetsyan’s respective statement and the reasons for his resignation.

Arusyak Julhakyan, another My Step faction member, also did not comment on this situation, but added that the Prime Minister and his press secretary had quite comprehensively commented on Vanetsyan’s resignation.

As reported earlier, Artur Vanetsyan, Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, on Monday submitted a letter of resignation to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
