Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan presented at today's regular session of the government the draft decision on amending the law on pre-school education.

The project aims at launching a support system for the organization of preschool education. It consists of activities provided by regional pedagogical-psychological support services for preschool education, identification of children in need of special education, various types of support services, counseling and appropriate special conditions.

This system ensures the smooth transition of every child, including those with special educational needs, from preschool to school.

Minister Harutyunyan also reminded this project was included in the pre-election program.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan noted that the issue of lump-sum, child benefit, as well as the provision of day-care for preschool and school-age children will be discussed, which is especially important for working parents. He noted that the relevant agencies should submit proposals in a coordinated package by the end of the year.

Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan noted that citizens also raise issues related to enrollment in kindergartens.

"We have communities with only one kindergarden” he said adding that it is very difficult for parents to take their children to kindergarten.
