YEREVAN. – At its Cabinet meeting on Thursday, the government of Armenia made a decision to conduct education and training sessions and exercises, from September 24 to October 5.

The matter was presented by Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan. He noted that these events will actually be strategic military exercises.

“We [Armenia] haven’t had a military exercise on this scale,” the minister added, in particular. “But most importantly, they are within the framework of our international obligations in terms of numbers and the resources involved.”

“A very large-scale event is being prepared,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, in his turn. “In those days our citizens will see, observe that processes are taking place. And we hope that those people who have an obligation prescribed by law will also be involved.

“Certain recruitment processes will take place. I urge our citizens to actively participate in that process. This is aimed at enhancing the combat-readiness of our armed forces. This is an unprecedented planned event.”
