Famous French Armenian actor Charles Gérard has died at the age of 92 at a hospital in Paris, AFP reported.

Gérard is known for being one of filmmaker Claude Lelouch’s favorite actors. Gérard has appeared in about 20 films of Lelouch.

Also, he was a close friend of renowned French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, with whom he used train boxing in his youth. During one such training session, Belmondo had accidentally broken Gerard’s nose, which later became a unique “calling card” for the actor.

Charles Gérard was born on December 1, 1926 in Marseille, to an Armenian family. His real surname was Adjemian.
