The relations between Armenia and the Czech Republic are at a high level. This is what Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia Bedřich Kopecký told journalists today.

The Ambassador said these relations are political relations, but added that there is unused potential and first and foremost in the economic sector and that Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has welcomed more investments from the Czech Republic in Armenia.

Talking about EU-Armenia relations, the Ambassador emphasized that the Czech Republic was one of the first countries to ratify the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. He stated the reforms in the justice sector as the major precondition for the development of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union and welcomed the actions in this direction and the cooperation with the Venice Commission.

In response to a question on the restrictions for the provision of transit visas, the Ambassador said this is due to misuse and violations, but has nothing to do with the dialogue between Armenia and the European Union over liberalization of visas.

He also mentioned that the Czech government has invited the Prime Minister of Armenia to Prague and that the Prime Minister will most likely visit next year.
