New York court has fined the US President Donald Trump $ 2 million for abusing his own charitable foundation, Time reported.

New York state Judge Saliann Scarpulla imposed the penalty as Trump was unlawfully involved his campaign staff to work for the fund during a fundraising event for veterans in preparation for the Iowa election conference in 2016.

Trump's lawyers and the New York City Attorney General concluded an agreement last month to dissolve the fund and redistribute about $ 1.7 million left in the fund’s accounts to other non-profit organizations.

As part of the deal published on Thursday, Trump admitted that he had personally decided to abuse the fund. The President and the New York Attorney General office have agreed that the decision on the amount of the fine to be paid by the head of state will be left to the judge.

The fine to be paid by Trump and the remaining funds of the Trump Foundation will be equally divided between eight organizations, among which there are funds that distribute free food to the needy and finance the United Negro College Fund and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
