By citing the words of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov today declared that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be acceptable for Armenia, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Azerbaijan and added that “it will be hard to dispute this”. This is what Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan wrote on his Facebook page.

He particularly stated the following: “in response to a question on Azerbaijan’s destructive statements that the conflict can only be solved within the scope of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the fact that the interests of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan need to be taken into consideration and cited not only territorial integrity, but also the right of nations to self-determination and the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.

With these responses, Sergey Lavrov factually opposed Azerbaijan’s categoric and destructive statements and reaffirmed that the settlement of the conflict must include the principles of the right of nations to self-determination and no use of threat of force and stated that Artsakh must also determine its own fate.

Thus, this dispelled the allegations that representatives of the former authorities have been making for the past months, stating that “Armenia is in a bad position in the negotiations and is considered a destructive party to the conflict because of Nikol Pashinyan”.”
