YEREVAN. – Members of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia discussed the reasons of resignation of Hayk Hovhannisyan, a member of council, during their meeting on Monday.

During a two-hour discussion Hayk Hovhannisyan presented the ideas and programs that have to be realized in the context of justice reform.

Following the results of active discussions, the importance of the presented initiatives was noted. As a result, Hayk Hovhannisyan did not insist on his resignation.

Earlier on Monday Hovhannisyan took to Facebook to announce his resignation.  

"The work of the Supreme Judicial Council, as an independent constitutional body, is not in line with international best practice of judicial councils," he wrote, in particular, on his Facebook page. “Judicial reforms must be carried out in an urgent and effective manner.
