YEREVAN. – Students from Yerevan State University Faculty of Armenian Philology who have boycotted classes since last week and members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun youth association are carrying out their awareness march on the streets of Yerevan.

These youth, who are demanding the resignation of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, are marching by state universities and urging students to join them.

The march will end near the ministry building, where the Dashnaktsutyun youth continue their sit-in for the past few days, and with the same demand.

This is the second such march of these protesters. The day before, they also marched to the ministry building with the same route, and where they held a rally. They were joined by several other movements. The participants of the sit-in spent last night outside the ministry building.

Students oppose the ministry's "Higher Education" bill, which proposes making optional at non-vocational faculties in universities the teaching of "Armenian Language" and "Armenian History" subjects that are now mandatory. They have been boycotting classes since November 6 demanding to revise this controversial point in the bill, and have also started collecting signatures.

Arayik Harutyunyan had announced that he was not going to resign.
